Our next destination would be at the famous Wind Mill Farm attraction
in Bangui. Beforehand, we believed that the Wind Mill Farm is located in
Pagudpud, but it is certainly not, it was in Bangui, Ilocos Norte. The site is
free from any trees and shrubbery, and because of its location between the
South China Sea and the Pacific Ocean, Province of Ilocos Norte tends to have
more wind than many other provinces.
The turbines have three vertically oriented rotor blades on
top of a 50 metre high tubular tower. Each wind turbines can impressively
produce electricity up to a maximum capacity of 1.65MW
According to Wikipedia, the wind farm uses 20 units of 70-metre (230 ft) high Vestas V82 1.65 MW wind turbines, arranged on a single row stretching along a nine-kilometer shoreline off Bangui Bay, facing the West Philippine Sea.
Phase I of the NorthWind power project in Bangui Bay consists of 15 wind turbines, each capable of producing electricity up to a maximum capacity of 1.65 MW, for a total of 24.75 MW.
Phase II, was completed on August 2008, and added 5 more wind turbines with the same capacity, and brought the total capacity to 33 MW. All 20 turbines describes a graceful arc reflecting the shoreline of Bangui Bay, facing the West Philippine Sea.
So much to brag about Ilocos Norte, the place is lavishly
amazing by both its nature and its culture, upheld by proud Ilocanos to make
sure that it will be remarkable to the visitors.
I will be blogging next about Kapurpurwan Rock
Formation, hope you can read that too. See you ^_^
